Knights Finish Season One Win Shy of State Tournament

The Knights' playoff run ended Sunday with a tough loss in the 2nd round of the Skyline League playoffs.  After winning Game 1 of the series in convincing fashion 10-0 over the Diamond Cutters, the Knights had two opportunities to clinch a berth in the Class A state tournament, but ultimately came up one win short.

The Knights' 22 wins represent the team's highest win total since 2013.  That team, led by the 1-2 punch of Ben Clark and Colton Smit, relied on strong pitching to notch a 3rd Place finish in the Skyline.  The 2016 Knights similarly relied on a deep and talented pitching staff, along with strong outfield defense and a balanced offensive attack.  Eight of the team's starting position players were under the age of 20, which makes the team's 2016 performance against more veteran competition all the more impressive.  The Knights will look to build on this success in 2017, and we are excited to see these players contribute to their college teams next Spring!

The Metro Knights are currently looking for sponsors.  If you or your business are interested in helping the Knights build a better team and in return build a better baseball community please contact us at
