Metro Knights News:

Knights Off the Schneid, win 2-1
Last Updated: 7/10/2012 8:00:00 PM

The Knights finally end their losing streak behind consistent pitching and great defense.  Matteson hurls a complete game 1 run gem walking only two batters in 7 innings and throwing only 76 pitches (54 for strikes).  After committed a handful of errors the night before against the State Champions, the Knights defense turned it around and played well all game only committing one error in the 7th inning.

Going into the 7th, Matteson would retire the first batter before the second batter would reach on a throwing error.  The next batter would single to right field on a first pitch fastball left up over the plate.  Then with one out and runners on first and second, the Hen's would have another hit to right fielder TJ Mayer. The Hens would decide to test Mayer's arm out in right, who was put into right field as a defensive substitution to begin the inning, and would be thrown out by more than a couple steps.  Mayer would rocket a throw on a line directly into catcher Brett Schlosser's glove easily getting the assist and taking away the tying run from the Hen's.  The next batter would pop up in foul territory to third to end the game and complete the win for the Knights.
